OCS Announces Poetic™ Release 12.0

Norwood, MA - April 7, 2006 - Open Channel Solutions (OCS), the leader in entitlement management solutions, today announced the general availability of Poetic 12.0. This new version gives publisher's customers and channel partners enhanced self-service options for maintenance subscription renewals, greater flexibility in the way they renew their subscriptions and allows publishers increased flexibility in product bundling and software activation.
"There is a trend in the software market toward subscription sales versus traditional models.  This is being fueled by the desire on the part of vendors to reach the underserved small-to-medium sized enterprise and the maturation of Open Source vendors.  To help our publishers be better positioned to profit from these market changes, we are providing enhanced subscription management tools in the new release of Poetic, said Ed Rose, OCS President and CEO.  Poetic 12.0 provides publishers; their channel partners and end users enhanced subscription renewal processes.  These enhancements allow publishers to optimize subscription revenues."

Key features in Poetic 12.0 include:

  • Subscription Best Practice
The Poetic Subscription Renewals process has been further enhanced to enable customers to more easily renew their subscriptions (even if late). The new functionality allows renewal notifications to be sent after the expiration of entitlements and can apply late fees based on configuration by the publisher.  By implementing late fees and enabling late renewals the publisher can optimize renewal revenues.
  • Order Integration
Poetic 12.0 supports new order web-services that allow the publisher to leverage the tremendous power of the pricing and validation logic inherent in the Poetic Order Management module.  Orders generated by external systems can be sent to Poetic to be priced and validated for accuracy according to the rules of the publisher
  • New Security Model
A new security model has been added that allows customers to only view information related to the Groups that are a member of, while allowing channel partners to only view information based on Entitlements they sold.  This new security model enables improved internal customer controls over data access while providing channel partners with specific access based on transactions where only they are involved.
  • Auto-drop order lines
Poetic now supports a concept that automatically adds order lines to an order based on product configuration.  Lines can be automatically added to an order to charge late fees, include upgrade products, physical fulfillment or documentation/training products.  By allowing the system to automatically add products to the order the user experience is significantly improved because the system does the work for them.  Configuration is available within the Auto-drop feature that enables the user to remove the line (or not), set the price (or free) and fix the qty or calculate it.
