World Vision and PCS to Improve Sustainability of Health for Children and Communities in Mukdahan Province

The World Vision Foundation of Thailand (WVFT) as well as the PCS Foundation have initiated a 3-Generation Centre project with the Ban Bang Sai Subdistrict Health Promoting Hospital with the hopes of making it a community centre where health and a sustainable quality of life for children and those in vulnerable communities are to be promoted.
Dr. Sarawut Rachasrimuang, National Director of the World Vision Foundation of Thailand, cooperated with PCS Foundation and, recently, PCS Security and Facility Services Company Limited, represented by Mr Alvin Liew Voon Siong, Chief Financial Officer, have together co-signed the budget support contract for the 3-Generation Centre operation at the WVFT office in Bangkok. The 300,000-baht budget for this project is set for the renovation of Ban Bang Sai Subdistrict Health Promoting Hospital, Bang Sai Noi Subdistrict, Wan Yai District, Mukdahan Province to become a community centre where everyone can come to exercise and to relax. The budget is also for the construction of a playground and the purchase of exercise equipment for the elderly.
The main purpose of the 3-Generation Centre is to promote and support the physical development of children, adults, and the elderly. The centre will be a place for joint exercises with equipment suitable for physical development, which will also be used as a tool to analyse muscle strength and flexibility. There will also be consultants who will provide appropriate advice on exercises for each age group and illness. In this centre, a ‘Corner for Family Communication’ will be arranged so that parents, children, young adults, and even the elderly, can hold discussions and communicate with one another, making bonds in the family and community even stronger.
Ban Bang Sai Subdistrict Health Promoting Hospital is currently a community centre in the Bang Sai Noi Subdistrict. It also provides a nursery centre and a school for adults in the subdistrict, where it serves 11 villages. Since the hospital provides health care, rehabilitation, and illness prevention to many people, the management believes that promoting health and illness prevention can build a good, sustainable quality of life that is better than the treatment of illnesses. However, the hospital lacks the budget for the equipment and resources previously mentioned.
"At World Vision Foundation, we work by integrating assistance to children and communities in every way, indiscriminately. We support quality education, child welfare, opportunities for earning additional income, and clean water. We also promote good health by working with communities and local organisations. We realise that the community itself understands best what it lacks. Oftentimes, the communities come up with good initiatives. We are here to listen and to provide the tools and knowledge so that those initiatives are realised, so that the lives of children and those living in the community are changed," said Dr. Sarawut Rachasrimuang.
PCS Foundation was founded in Thailand more than 40 years ago with the purpose to support and help the underprivileged, the disabled, the sick, and those who are affected by disasters, so that they can help themselves. PCS Foundation also works with other charity organisations for public interests.
Speaking of the operation of PCS Foundation, Mr. Alvin Liew Voon Siong said: "At PCS Foundation, we have always worked with the focus on improving quality of life for the underprivileged. We also work to support our Sustainability Strategy by cooperating with other organisations and charity organisations. This is the PCS culture that has long been inherited. It was born from the determination in doing charitable work and in working with communities. Our PCS employees have always been concretely involved with charitable work. Now is a good opportunity for us to work with World Vision Foundation, which is an organisation for development and public interests, to start a project creating a play area for three generations at Ban Bang Sai Subdistrict Health Promoting Hospital, Bang Sai Noi Subdistrict, Wan Yai District, Mukdahan Province. As the Sustainability Lead of the PCS Foundation, it is my pleasure that PCS Foundation and PCS Thailand have become a part in providing a quality society to our friends, sisters, and brothers, at Ban Bang Sai, with the cooperation from World Vision Foundation."
With this cooperation, 4,550 children, adults, the elderly, and those living in the 11 villages in Ban Bang Sai area of Bang Sai Noi Subdistrict, Wan Yai District, Mukdahan Province, will have a common place to exercise in order to promote appropriate physical strength to prevent illnesses, to promote age-appropriate development in children, and to create good, sustainable quality of life for everyone in the community.
