JCB is a family owned company and one of the world's top three manufacturers of construction equipment. Employing around 12,000 people on four continents, the company sells its products in 150 countries through 2,000 dealer depot locations.
JCB has some of the finest engineering facilities across the globe, produces a range of over 300 machines and maintains a reputation for unrivalled customer service.
The requirement was for strategic security systems development to enable continuous monitoring of factories across the UK and Europe. OCS upgraded all the JCB security systems to digital operation at sites in the UK and designed and built a new centralised operations room which monitors cameras, alarm systems and access control across the JCB property estate.
The OCS solution
OCS began working with the company as a preferred supplier in 2003. At this time, OCS carried out a thorough strategic review of security operations and made prioritised recommendations to bring systems up to the required levels of efficiency and effectiveness. This programme was phased over five years and brought world class security to a world class company.
The scope of security services provided to JCB comprises security equipment specification, provision, installation and maintenance work 24/7, 365 days a year. OCS has a permanent on-site engineer for technical issues as well as account managers and project managers to provide dedicated support in management, design and maintenance.
The equipment specified by OCS includes:
- Panasonic cameras
- Panasonic graphical user interface (GUI) control technologies
- Dallmeier digital recording equipment
- Menvier Alarms, and
- Lenel access control.
A high specification security centre was designed and installed by OCS. All 200+ cameras and access points at JCB are controlled and monitored from this centre. It is linked to the company's remote sites via ASDL and IP to enable sites in Europe to be monitored from the UK centre.
