The OCS solution
By working in close partnership with the NEC group, we developed an integrated solution to their operational challenges that provides excellent service and adds value to their business.
Using modern cleaning systems like our CleanSmart™ lean and efficient cleaning model and introducing innovative new equipment, we provide a cleaning solution that improves efficiency and standards throughout the areas. We greatly reduced drying time when dealing with spillages at major events by introducing modern mopping systems with flat micro-fibre systems in all venues.
OCS takes full responsibility for waste management, including the day-to-day operation of the on-site waste pre-treatment centre (WPTC) and all waste streams. We achieved zero to landfill just two months into the contract. Using a computer aided facilities management (CAFM) work scheduling and helpdesk model, our dedicated teams use iPads and personal digital assistants (PDAs) for mobile monitoring and to receive and complete requests and tasks.
OCS also manages traffic flow and parking on-site and coordinate the shuttle buses that run between the halls and car parks. Our traffic team also oversees the build and breakdown processes before and after events, controlling access and ensuring operating procedures are followed correctly.
We introduced innovative electronic signage and movement management technology across all car parks to maximise traffic flow. This required considerable logistical expertise as the venues within the NEC have multiple entry and exit points.
Flexible staffing arrangements were introduced to ensure optimum support levels at peak times. Visitors often arrive and leave the venue within a short window of time, so our teams work flexibly to meet demand.
To develop and train the team on site OCS introduced Sector Based Work Academies (SBWA) at the NEC. Candidates from job centres and recruitment agencies complete a variety of nationally accredited and relevant qualifications. Approximately 115 candidates complete this course in a year and we have offered work to 62 percent of them, we plan to increase these numbers over the coming years.
