Our prepared meal supplier Anglia Crown is reducing its cardboard packaging - which is benefitting OCS and our clients too.
Removing the cardboard base from the 52,000-plus meals supplied to OCS each year will save 0.62 metric tons of cardboard, which in turn will save 891 litres of oil, 2,478kW of energy and 16,419 litres of water. This adds up to a carbon dioxide equivalent reduction of 868kgCO2e - helping OCS with our long-term goal of lessening our impact on the environment.
The change came after OCS Head of Catering Paul Cowie challenged Anglia Crown to reduce its packaging. Paul said: "Anything that can reduce our impact on the environment is good for us."
